This is the link to a recording of my poetry which is part of the Illuminations Exhibition at NUI Maynooth’s North Campus on the Galway road. The exhibition contains material which will interest anybody following contemporary writing, photography and literature in general. Curated by Dr. Colin Graham, it can be viewed and listened to in the School of English, Media and Film studies at the university. I’m delighted to be a part of it. The exhibits can be accessed very easily in the Iontas Building, where individual, glass-fronted display units show extracts from contemporary writing, and Ursula Burke’s specially commissioned portraits of Irish writers which were published in poster format last year by Co. Cavan Arts Office. The exhibition includes work by Alice Lyons, Ciaran Carson and many others.
I participated in a three-hander reading on 20th in NUI Maynooth, reading with short-story writer Eilis Ni Dhuibhne and poet Moya Cannon. I read from poetry this time rather than fiction, a mixture selected from my previous collections, plus some new work which will appear in the next, almost completed volume of poems.
Dr. Colin Graham recorded us in advance, so the readings are now available on Soundcloud as well as on the Maynooth Illuminations site – and take about eight and a half minutes each if you decide to listen. It’s amazing what can happen when there are people attentive to the technologies available and determined to use them to enhance accessibility to the arts.
